SCHOFIELD – The Marshfield football team is playoff eligible after posting a resounding 36-0 victory over D.C. Everest on Friday night at Stiehm Stadium.

The Tigers posted their second-straight shutout and improve to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the Valley Football Association West Division.

By securing no worse than a .500 record in conference play, Marshfield is eligible for the WIAA playoffs, although not guaranteed a spot. With a win Oct. 13 at home against Wausau West, the Tigers would secure a berth in the postseason for the first time since 2013. Marshfield’s homecoming game at Beell Stadium will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.

With the loss, D.C. Everest is eliminated from playoff contention as it falls to 2-5 overall and in VFA West play. The Evergreens wrap up their season Oct. 13 at Wisconsin Rapids.

After a scoreless first quarter, Marshfield scored four times in the second to take a 29-0 halftime lead.

Brant Bohman ran 35 yards for a score and caught a 23-yard TD pass from Ryan Krueger. Krueger also threw a 23-yard scoring pass to Isaac Meverden, and Nolan Hertel ran a fumble back for a touchdown to give the Tigers the big lead.

Neil Ott then ran the opening kickoff the second half back 85 yards for a touchdown to start the running clock, and end the scoring.

Bohman finished with 72 yards rushing to lead the Tigers’ offense.

Marshfield’s defense held Everest to 121 total yards and just 10 on the ground on 20 carries.
