Andie Varsho wins wissports.net award

Marshfield's Andie Varsho was named the top three-sport female athlete in the state by wissports.net.

Wisconsin Sports Network and WisSports.net has selected Andie Varsho of Marshfield High School as the inaugural recipient of the Pat Richter Award as the Triple Play Triple Threat Female Athlete of the Year.

The Triple Play Triple Threat of the Week is an honor given on wissports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state.

At the end of the school year, those awarded with the weekly honor were eligible for the Pat Richter Award.

Varsho, a four-time Wisconsin Valley Conference batting champion and Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association first-team all-state selection, earned 11 letters during her career at Marshfield.

She was a three-time WIAA state tournament participant in tennis and a led the girls basketball team to three straight WVC championships and WIAA state tournament appearances in 2008 and 2009 as the starting point guard.

Varsho will be playing softball at Purdue University starting in the fall.
