Marshfield volleyball wins one match at second WVC meet

WAUSAU – The Marshfield volleyball team finished 1-2 at the second Wisconsin Valley Conference meet of the season on Saturday at Wausau West High School.

Marshfield lost its first two matches, falling to D.C. Everest 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-17) and Merrill 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-7, before beating Wausau East 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-19).

Karly Nikolai had 29 kills, Lindsey Steffen had 33 digs, 22 kills and seven service aces, Madison Nelles added 21 kills and five blocks, and Corianne Johnson had 85 assists and six aces for the Tigers. Johnson passed the 1,000-assist mark for her career.

Kaydee Johnson led Marshfield with 37 digs and Hannah Meverden had nine blocks.

Marshfield (4-7 WVC) wraps up its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule Tuesday at home against Stevens Point.
