National Junior Tennis League holds third competition in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD – A total of 47 Marshfield area youths participated in the third National Junior Tennis League Competition of the summer on Friday.

The afternoon started with the U10 group, which played three mini-court competitions against the other four teams of U10 players. The U10 players tried to win a points by beating their coaches (members of local high school tennis teams) in singles or doubles. The U10 players joined together on one court for their favorite tennis game of JAIL, where in order to win you have to hit the ball across the net and into the court without another player catching your ball.

U10 champions for the day were the Flamin’ Aces (Kendra Tremmelling, Kacy Wesolowski and Gracia Sandok) scoring 55 points for their team/

The U14 players took the court and played four-game sets of singles and doubles to earn points for their team.

U14 champions were the Racquet Scientists (Maria Garcia, Nick Okon, Mitch Ott, Ryan Rodeghier, Toni Schmitt, Ashely Schultz, Hunter Schultz, Sam Trudeau and Jackson VenDenHeuvel), scoring 103 points for their team.

The fourth and final competition will be Thursday, Aug. 5 (rain date – Friday, Aug. 6) at the JD Boson Courts.
