MARSHFIELD – Three Marshfield players earned honors on the 2017 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Soccer Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches.

Sophomore forward Kyle Tremelling was a second-team selection, and junior midfielder Isaac Wellens and junior midfielder Kevin Cassidy were honorable mention choices for Marshfield, which finished 4-14-1 overall and 2-9-1 in the WVC, taking sixth place.

Tremelling led the Tigers with four goals and three assists in Valley action, Wellens had three goals, and Cassidy had a goal and four assists in conference action for Marshfield.

“Kyle has a tremendous shot and good turn with back to net,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “He made good off-the-ball runs. He had a strong season and he just kept getting stronger as the season went on. I look for Kyle to be a force to be reckoned with the next two years.

“Isaac was a team captain and our team MVP. He is a great tackler and can be a dangerous offensive threat. Kevin has a huge competitive spirit and is a midfielder who never tires. He played with a lot of energy and heart, and I’m glad he was able to be recognized for his efforts on the field.”

Conference champion Wisconsin Rapids had five first-team picks, including conference Player of the Year Jack Kiiskila.
