Stratford placed seven players on the first team and three more on the second team of the 2017 All-Marawood Conference Football Team, which was voted on by the seven conference coaches.

The Tigers, who finished 9-3 overall and 5-1 and in second place in the Marawood, reached Level 3 of the WIAA Division 5 playoffs before being eliminated by Amherst.

Auburndale, which finished 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the Marawood, had one first-team and five second-team picks. The Apaches won a Division 6 playoff game before losing to Marathon in Level 2.

Senior offensive lineman Aiden Hoffman and senior punter Conner Multerer were unanimous first-team choices for Stratford.

Hoffman led the way for the Tigers’ offense that relied heavily on the running game. Junior Kade Ehrike was also a first team pick after rushing for a 1,062 yards and 21 touchdowns, and adding a team-high 18 pass receptions for 218 yards and four more scores.

Junior Dylan Schoenherr was also a first-team selection on the offensive line for Stratford, as well as earning second-team honors as a defensive end.

“I can’t say enough positive things about Aiden Hoffman,” Stratford coach Jason Tubbs said. “He makes every block for us in our offense. He has great technique and will be missed next year. Dylan Schoenherr was also another solid lineman for us earning first team on the o-line, and Kade Ehrike has great power and burst at running back.”

Defensively, the Tigers also had three first-team selections, as well as Multerer (36.8 yard average) at punter. All four are seniors.

Jordan Becker was Stratford’s top tackler at outside linebacker with 80, including six for loss and three forced fumbles. Lineman Luke Barten had 61 tackles and three forced fumbles, including one returned for a touchdown, and defensive back Dilan Dehlinger had two interceptions for the Tigers.

“Luke Barten is a high-motor player and was double teamed a lot,” Tubb said. “Dilan Dehlinger has great cover skills and is a sure tackler, and Jordan Becker was consistently our best linebacker.

Auburndale’s first-team selection was senior wide receiver Cale Jacoby, who had a team-high 25 receptions for 373 yards and five touchdowns. Jacoby was also a second-team pick at defensive end, tallying four sacks and seven tackles for loss, including a safety.

“Cale is our best receiving weapon, but his stats didn’t entirely reflect the level of his impact,” Auburndale coach Jay Anderson said. “He was always given a lot of attention form the defenses. He is a solid blocker and gives great effort daily.”

In addition to Schoenherr, sophomore defensive lineman Ben Barten and junior defensive back Okley Wrensch were second-team selections for Stratford.

Senior offensive lineman Samuel Hasenohrl, senior defensive end Colten Yeske, senior linebacker Ryan Isaacson, junior running back and Trayton Weister, and sophomore defensive back Cooper Weinufter join Jacoby as second-team picks for Auburndale.

Weister racked up 119.8 yards per game, including kick and punt returns, Isaacson had 42 tackles, including eight for loss, and Weinfurter tallied five interceptions for the Apaches.

“Samuel played a high level this season, despite it being his first year playing the center position,” Anderson said. “Ryan made the move from defensive end to linebacker this season and really took to the change. He was also our starting quarterback and is an outstanding student with 4.0 GPA, was our team captain, and is a leader by example.”

Jerry Sinz of conference champion Edger was named Coach of the Year, while Marathon players eaned the two top individual awards. Quarterback/defensive back Donavon Free was named Back of the Year, and tight end/defensive end Nathan Stoffel was picked as Lineman of the Year.
