Stratford boys basketball beats Assumption in Marawood South opener

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team won its second-straight game to start the season, pulling past Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 62-47 in the Marawood Conference South Division opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Stratford High School.

Ten different players scored in the win for the Tigers (2-0). Sophomore forward Vaughn Breit led Stratford with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Teddy Redman added 10 in the victory.

Stratford only led by one, 31-30, at halftime before holding off the Royals in the second half, limiting them to just 17 points.

Stratford plays a nonconference game at Rib Lake on Friday and hosts Loyal on Monday.
