Marshfield boys swimming falls two points short at Wausau East

WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys swim team won four events but came up just short of its first Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet victory, falling to Wausau East 86-84 on Thursday at Horace Mann Middle School.

Freshman Myles Jensen won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05 and the 500 freestyle in 5:40.37, and Jacob Dick took first in the 100 breastroke in 1:12.51 for Marshfield’s three individual victories.

Marshfield’s other win came in the final race, the 400 freestyle relay, as the team of Jeffery Berres, Nathan Albanito, Ethan Dagit, and Jensen won in 3:56.93.

Connor Berres was second in the 200 freestyle (2:23.61), Dick took second in the 200 IM (2:23.96), Jeffery Berres was runner-up in the 100 backstroke (1:11.59), and Scott Thompson was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.11) for Marshfield.

The Tigers’ 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams also placed second.

Marshfield will compete at the Rhinelander Invitational on Saturday.
