Auburndale boys basketball beats Assumption for third-straight win

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team won its third-straight game to start the season, coming back from a slight halftime deficit to beat Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 47-41 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday night at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches (3-0, 2-0 Marawood South) trailed 22-20 at halftime before rallying for the win, holding Assumption (2-3, 0-2 Marawood South) to just 19 second-half points.

Colton Wright scored a team-high 17 points for Auburndale, making 4 of 9 shots from 3-point range. Cale Jacoby and Cooper Weinfurter each added nine points in the win.

Joe Grundhoffer had a game-high 18 points to lead the Royals.

Auburndale plays a nonconference game at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
