Marshfield girls basketball tops Oshkosh North to finish 2-0 at home tournament

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield used an efficient shooting performance and outscored Oshkosh North by 17 points in the second half to pull away for a 74-54 victory in the second round of the Marshfield Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield shot 64 percent from the field (29 of 45) and 72 percent from 2-point range (24 of 33) to offset 31 turnovers on the offensive end.

Jenna Jakobi was 9-for-11 from the field and scored a game-high 21 points, and Katie Osinski hit 7 of 11 shots to finish with 15 points for the Tigers (4-5).

Meg Bryan added 15 points and six assists, and Hannah Meverden had eight points and 11 rebounds for Marshfield.

Defensively, the Tigers created 23 turnovers and held Oshkosh North (0-10) to 31 percent (19 of 60) shooting.

Wausau West beat Hudson 86-62 in the other game Thursday and earned a share of the tournament title with Marshfield.

Marshfield returns to action Jan. 4 at home against D.C. Everest.
