Stratford girls basketball stays hot with win at Assumption

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Stratford girls basketball team won for the sixth time in its last seven games, holding on to beat Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 47-40 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday night at Assumption High School.

The Tigers jumped out to a 24-12 lead and despite making just four baskets from the field in the second half, held on for the victory by making 11 of 20 free throws.

Chelsey Gliniecki scored 10 points, and Mariah Zawislan and Kaylee Hollatz each added eight for Stratford, which is now 7-6 overall 6-3 in the Marawood South.

Assumption drops to 7-5 and 5-4 in the conference.

Stratford plays at Edgar on Thursday.
