Auburndale boys basketball crushes Chequamegon

AUBURNDALE – Eleven different players scored, four in double figures, as the Auburndale boys basketball team dominated Chequamegon 83-26 in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale shot 62 percent (31 of 50) from the field and made 10 of 18 3-point attempts in the home win, and improves 11-3 overall and 8-2 in the Marawood South. Chequamegon is 0-14 and 0-10 in the Marawood North.

Cale Jacoby scored 14 points, and Cooper Weinfurter, Colten Yeske and Cameron Ertl each added 13 for Auburndale.

The Apaches raced out to a 49-14 lead by halftime on their way to the big win.

Auburndale plays at Marawood South co-leader Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Tuesday. Assumption edged Rib Lake 66-64 in overtime on Friday night to keep pace with the Apaches and Marathon atop the conference standings.
