Malovrh tops 1,000-point mark in Columbus Catholic boys basketball team’s win over Gilman

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic senior guard Nick Malovrh surpassed the 1,000-point mark in his career by scoring 22 points in the Dons’ 80-46 victory over Gilman on Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Malovrh becomes the seventh player in program history to score more than 1,000 points in a career, joining Bob Koch, Jason Linzmeier, Shawn Lee, Jared Fleischmann, Tyler Fuerlinger, and Hunter Schultz.

Columbus raced out to a 41-17 lead by halftime and outscored the Pirates by 10 points in the second half.

Bryce Fuerlinger added nine points for the Dons, who are now 15-2 overall and 12-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Fourteen Dons scored at least two points in the victory.

The Dons return to action Tuesday at Greenwood.
