Marshfield senior Seth Anderson was one of four unanimous first-team selections to the 2017-18 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Basketball Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches.

Anderson led the Tigers in scoring at 25.7 points per game in conference play, ranking second behind WVC Player of the Year Drew Blair, a senior from conference champion Stevens Point.

Anderson shot 53.1 percent from the field, ranked for fourth in rebounding (6.3 per game) and 3-pointers made (24), and was sixth in free throw shooting at 80.5 percent. Anderson set a new Marshfield school record for points in a season, finishing with 577 points as he broke the 50-year-old record set by Bill Rhyner (540) in 1967-68. Anderson ends his career with 808 points, which ranks ninth all time for the program.

Blair topped all players in scoring at 32.5 points per game. He was second in the conference in free throw shooting (85.6 percent) and third in field goal percentage (61.3 percent). He also tied for fourth in assists with 3.8 per game.

Merrill’s Zach Mootz and D.C. Everest’s Zion Turner were also unanimous first-team selections. Wisconsin Rapids senior Zach Langemeier rounded out the first team.

Mootz averaged 16.5 points per game, ranking sixth, and was second in the conference in both rebounding (7.6 per game) and assists (4.3 per game).

Turner, a junior, was third in scoring at 25.6 points per game and finished second in 3-pointers made with 30.

Langemeier was seventh in scoring (14.7 points per game) and third in rebounding (7.3 per game).

Marshfield junior Reed Miller was a second-team selection and junior Brant Bohman was an honorable mention choice.

Miller averaged 11.3 points, 6.8 points and 3.1 assists per game in conference play for the Tigers, who finished 8-4 and in second place in the standings. The Tigers reached the WIAA Division 2 sectional final before losing to La Crosse Central and ended the year with a 14-12 record.
