SPASH edges Marshfield girls tennis in regular-season finale

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield won three of the four singles matches but couldn’t manage a win in doubles and dropped a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet to Stevens Point 4-3 on Wednesday at Boson Courts.

The Tigers end the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 2-4 dual meet record and 38 points, which is fifth among the seven teams. Stevens Point also finishes 2-4 and has 40 points for fourth place heading into Thursday’s WVC Tournament at Wausau West and East high schools.

Taylor Varsho finishes the WVC regular season at 4-2 after beating Kristen Arnold 6-0, 6-1.

Megan Hayes at No. 2 singles and Susan Lou at No. 4 singles will receive high seeds in the conference tournament after winning against Stevens Point to finish the season at 4-1.
