Columbus girls tennis blanks Assumption

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Cathoic girls tennis wrapped up its regular season with 7-0 whipping of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Thursday at the Oak Street Courts.

The Dons won all seven matches in straight sets, losing just a total of eight games.

Scout Inman at No. 2 singles, Rebecca Lamermayer at No. 3 singles and the No. 3 doubles team of Cassidy Schlinsog and Maddy Havican each won 6-0, 6-0 for the Dons.

Columbus finishes its season with an 11-7 dual meet record.

The Dons will participate in the WIAA Division 2 subsectional on Monday at Fox Cities Racquet Club in Appleton.

Players reaching the semifinals at No. 1 singles and doubles, and the finals at No. 2, 3 and 4 singles, and No. 2 and 3 doubles move on to the sectional meet on Oct. 7 at Kohler.
