Varsho captures No. 1 singles title at Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet

WAUSAU – Marshfield junior Taylor Varsho swept three matches to win the No. 1 singles title Thursday at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Tennis Meet at Wausau West.

Varsho beat Lindsey Viegut of Wausau East 6-3, 6-2, in the title match.

No. 3 singles player Victoria Jensen also won a title for the Tigers, beating Kelli Miles of Wausau East 6-0, 6-2 in the finals.

Marshfield’s No. 2 singles player Megan Hayes lost in the championship match to Liz Smith of Merrill 6-1, 6-1.

Wausau East won the team title, with Marshfield finished third thanks to the three championship match appearances.

At No. 4 singles, Susan Lou won her first match for the Tigers before losing in the semifinals to eventual champ Kristen Verdoorn of Merrill.
