Marshfield grad Ethan Finlay scores three goals for Creighton soccer in NCAA tournament

OMAHA, Neb. – Marshfield High School graduate Ethan Finlay recently wrapped up his season as a member of the Creighton University men’s soccer team with two good performances in the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament.

Finlay scored two goals in a 4-1 win over New Mexico in the first round of the tournament and added another goal in a loss to SMU on Nov. 21 that ended the Bluejays’ season.

SMU (15-2-1) beat Creighton (13-5-2) 5-3 on penalty kicks to advance to the third round of the tournament. The game ended in a 2-2 tie after two overtimes.

Finlay, who was named the Missouri Valley Conference player of the year, ended his junior season with team-highs in goals (15), points (34) and game-winning goals (5). He had four assists and a shot percentage of 0.214 (15 of 70).
