Besler, Roy-Peterson net hat tricks as Marshfield girls hockey rolls at Schwan Cup

BLAINE, Minn. –Marshfield defeated the Brookings (S.D.) 6-1 on Wednesday to capture fifth place in the White Division at the Schwan Cup Girls Hockey Tournament.

The Tigers, who lost their first game in the tournament on Monday, came back with two consecutive wins to finish fifth in the eight-team field and improve to 8-2 on the season.

After a scoreless first period, Brookings jumped ahead 1:01 into the second period, but after that it was all Marshfield.

Chandler Roy-Peterson tied it at the 2:07 mark and the Tigers added three more goals in the second period to take command.

Abby Besler scored twice and Roy-Peterson added another to make it 4-1. Each scored again in the third period to both finish with hat tricks in Marshfield’s win.

Six different Tigers assisted on goals in the victory, and Ashley Bauer had 10 saves in goal for Marshfield.

The Tigers return to Great Northern Conference action Monday at Stevens Point against Point/Rapids.
