Boernke, Dolezal win titles for Marshfield at Bi-State Wrestling Classic

LA CROSSE – The Marshfield wrestling team took second place in Division 1 and Stratford took third in Division 3 as the two-day Bi-State Wrestling Classic wrapped up on Thursday.

Marshfield, which entered the day in third place, ended up with 220 points, 66 behind Wisconsin Valley Conference rival Wausau West in the Division 1 standings.

Stratford finished with 155½ points in Division 3, just one-half point behind New Lisbon for second place. Weston/Ithaca won the team title with 165 points.

Auburndale finished tied for 18th in the 20-team Division 3 field with 30 points and had no wrestlers finish in the top 12 in their respective weight class.

Marshfield had two individual champions and a third-place finisher.

Torin Boernke won the title at 140 pounds, winning a major decision over D.J. Yarwood of Ellsworth 14-0 in the championship match.

Brad Dolezal also won a title for Marshfield, beating Nick Larson of Hudson 2-1 in the 160-pound title match.

Josh Shupe took third for Marshfield, beating Dylan Detert of Wausau West 6-2 in the third-place match.

Boernke and Dolezal improve to 17-0 on the season. Shupe is now 17-1.

Daniel Barton took sixth at 135 pounds and Justin Sternweis was ninth at 171 for Marshfield.

Stratford’s Luke Radke took second at 189, losing in the title match to Josh Vaughan of Bloomington (Minn.) Kennedy 9-3.

Mark Marquardt was fourth at 152 and Andrew Murdaugh took eighth at 285 for Stratford.
