Marathon cruises past Stratford in WIAA Division 4 boys basketball regional semifinal

MARATHON – The Stratford boys basketball team’s season came to an end Friday night as it lost to Marathon 66-40 in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal game at Marathon High School.

The top-seeded Raiders (22-1) move on to a regional final against Three Lakes at 7 p.m. Saturday at Antigo High School.

Stratford’s season ends with an 12-11 record after its third loss of the season to Marathon.

Marathon pulled ahead after a tight first quarter by outscoring the Tigers 18-8 in the second quarter and 23-9 in the third, grabbing a 52-25 advantage.

Derek Austin scored 13 points to lead Stratford.

Cody Hanke had 21 points and Koleman Schilling added 19 points, which included five 3-pointers, for Marathon.
