Auburndale softball tumbles vs. Wausau Newman

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale scored a run in the first inning but after that it was all Wausau Newman Catholic as the Cardinals rolled to a 12-2 win in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Thursday at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale led 1-0 after the first inning only to see Newman respond with a run in the second, three more in the third, two in the fourth and six in the fifth.

The Apaches scored once in the bottom of the fifth but Newman closed out the win via the 10-run rule.

Kayleigh Kundinger doubled and scored one of Auburndale’s runs, while Camille Swart scored the other.

Scout Meyer took the loss for the Apaches, giving up 10 hits and two walks, while striking out five.

Newman’s statistics were not provided.

Auburndale falls to 4-11 and 3-9 in the conference. Newman Catholic improves to 11-3 and 10-3 in the Marawood South.
