AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team defeated Marathon twice during the Marawood Conference season, but on Saturday, the Raiders turned the tables.
Marathon edged Auburndale 39-37 in a WIAA Division 4 regional final Saturday night at Auburndale High School, ending the Apaches’ season with a 16-8 record.
Seventh-seeded Marathon (13-11) will play Marawood South rival and No. 5 seed Edgar (16-8) in a Division 4 sectional semifinal at Wausau East on Thursday. Algoma (23-1) will play Oshkosh Lourdes (23-1) in the other sectional semifinal, with the winners playing in a sectional final at Waupaca next Saturday.
