Marshfield boys golf team finishes second, one shot off lead at Wisconsin Rapids Quad

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield boys golf team opened its season tying for second place at the Wisconsin Rapids Quad on Tuesday at The Ridges Golf Course.

The Tigers battled cold, windy conditions to fire a team total of 348, tying D.C. Everest and finishing just one shot back of host Wisconsin Rapids. Wausau West was a distant fourth with a 370..

Evan Schneider had an 85, Josh Berres shot an 87, and Michael Josephson, Brandon Brown and Craig Serchen had 88s for the Tigers.

The Marshfield JV team shot a 409 to finish in third with a 409. D.C. Everest won the meet with a 402, Wisconsin Rapids was second with 408, and Wausau West was fourth with a 412.

Ian Pillai had a 95 and Kyle Hoffman shot a 96 to lead the Tigers. Zach Shortess added a 108 and Nelson Spindler shot a 110.

Marshfield returns to action Friday and Saturday when it competes in the Wisconsin Dells Invitational. The Tigers will play at Trappers Turn Golf Club on Friday and at Christmas Mountain on Saturday in the two-day event.
