Spencer softball splits pair at Oakfield

OAKFIELD – The Spencer softball team split a pair of games Saturday at Oakfield.

The Rockets defeated Markesna 4-1 before dropping a 7-1 decision to Oakfield in a pair of nonconference games.

Tynae Phillips allowed just one hit and one walk in a complete-game effort to nail down the win in the opener for Spencer (7-3).

The Rockets scored once in the second inning and added three more in the fifth. Marisa Johnson, Brooke Kettleborough and Macie Weber had RBIs for Spencer.

Oakfield pitcher McKaela Ryan struck out 12 and allowed just two hits to shut down Spencer. Oakfield improves to 10-0.

Spencer has four Cloverbelt East doubleheaders scheduled for this week – at Loyal on Monday, at home against Columbus Catholic on Tuesday, at Greenwood on Thursday and at home against Neillsville on Saturday.
