Northland Pines holds off Marshfield girls hockey

MARSHFIELD – After a scoreless two periods, Northland Pines pulled ahead with two goals and held off Marshfield, winning 2-1 in a Great Northern Conference girls hockey game Monday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice and Recreation Arena.

Kali Ebert and Allison Sauvola scored about 1½ minutes apart midway through the third period to give Northland Pines (12-3, 8-0 Great Northern Conference) a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers responded with a goal late as Gracia Sandok found the back of the net with 2:07 left, but they couldn’t tie it up.

Jenna Paez had 10 saves for Northland Pines. Alexis Straughan had 25 for Marshfield (4-10, 4-5 GNC).

Marshfield plays at Baraboo on Thursday.
