Columbus Catholic girls basketball drops road game at Augusta

AUGUSTA – Strong first and third quarters lifted Augusta to a 54-47 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Augusta High School.

Augusta outscored the Dons 19-11 in the first quarter and 12-7 in the third to provide a deficit too big for Columbus to overcome.

Columbus (6-6 overall) and Augusta (6-5) are now in a three-way tie with Greenwood for fifth place in the conference standings at 4-5.

Jessica Trad had 14 points to top Columbus Catholic.

The Dons return to action Friday at Greenwood. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com with the pregame show starting at 7:10 p.m.
