Marshfield boys basketball team clinches winning season with win at D.C. Everest

WESTON – The Marshfield boys basketball team guaranteed its fifth-straight winning season after beating D.C. Everest 49-36 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference contest Tuesday night at D.C. Everest High School.

The Tigers improve to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with the win, clinching a winning record for the season. It is the first time in the 102-year history of boys basketball at Marshfield High School that its teams have had five winning seasons in a row.

Matt Oestreich scored 17 points to top the Tigers in scoring.

D.C. Everest is now 6-10 and 3-5 in the Valley.

Marshfield’s next game is Friday at home against Wausau East.

Marshfield shot a solid 47 percent (18 of 38) and only turned the ball over six times in the win.
