NEW RICHMOND – Devin Zahradka delivered the game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete a doubleheader sweep for the Marshfield baseball team on Saturday at New Richmond.

Marshfield won 8-1 and 5-4 to finish its regular-season schedule with a 13-12 record.

Marshfield trailed 4-0 after three innings of the second game before scoring one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth on Zahradka’s single.

Zahradka was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Jack Donahue was 3-for-4 in the Game 2 win.

Senior Daulton Varsho had a single in the fifth inning and passed Elliot Ashbeck as the all-time hits leader in Marshfield baseball history. He now has 109 career hits entering the playoffs.

In the opener, Jack Donahue earned the victory as Marshfield pounded out 13 hits.

Varsho was 3-for-3 with a triple, and Caleb Alexander, Jace Krasselt and Sam Klein each had two hits for the Tigers, who have won three straight.

“We put four games together where we played pretty well defensively,” Marshfield coach Mark Zee said. “We just want to keep it going and put a streak together.”
