EDGAR – The Spencer/Columbus Catholic couldn’t muster much offense against top-ranked Edgar and lost the nonconference football game 28-6 on Friday at Edgar High School.
Edgar, ranked No. 1 in the latest WisSports.net State Coaches Poll in Division 6, improve to 8-0. Spencer/Columbus is now 5-3.
Edgar has allowed just 20 points this season, and never more than one touchdown in any of its eight wins.
Spencer/Columbus (5-2 Cloverbelt Conference) closes out its regular-season schedule next Friday at home in Spencer against Osseo-Fairchild (4-4, 4-3 Cloverbelt). The game begins at 7 p.m.
Calvin Lenz scored Spencer/Columbus’ lone touchdown on a 10-yard run in the second quarter, making the score 15-6 at halftime.
Edgar put the game away in the third quarter, scoring two touchdowns.
Edgar outgained the Rockets 367-175.
