WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield cross country team got an early look at the course that will be used for the WIAA State Championships when it competed at the Wisconsin Rapids Invitational on Saturday at the Ridges Golf Course.
The Marshfield girls finished eighth and the boys 13th in the team standings.
Stevens Point won both the girls and boys team titles.
Dani Bender led the Marshfield girls, taking 25th in 21:05.1 and Morgan Irish was 36th in 21:40.5.
Devon Klement was again Marshfield’s top boys runner, finishing 32nd in 17:48.5, with James Kollross 49th in 18:29.8.
Both the Marshfield boys and girls finished fifth in the JV standings.
Randy Witzel led the Marshfield JV boys, taking 46th in 20:02.2, while Riley Slade (29th in 23:27.3) and Maddie Haessly (37th in 23:50.6) led the JV girls.
Marshfield will compete in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet next Saturday, Oct. 18, at Merrill.
