VOLLEYBALL

Marshfield junior Sara Dasler was named to the first team as a libero.

Dasler began the season as the Tigers’ setter, but moved to the libero specialist position about a quarter of the way through the season as Marshfield looked to get stronger on defense.

“What is so special about Sara making first-team all-conference as a libero is that she only played eight of the 12 conference matches as our libero,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “She ended up second in the conference in digs (161) and made our serve receive much more efficient. Sara loves defense; she hits the floor with no hesitation. I am so glad we will start our season next year with her captaining our defense and serve receive.”

Dasler joins Merrill senior Morgan Marnholtz as the first-team liberos.

Natalie Zuelke was the only other Tiger to earn all-conference honors, as she was named as an honorable mention selection.

The senior played all six spots on the floor, but excelled as an outside hitter on the front row.

“She was asked to step up and be one of our primary passers in serve receive as well as a ‘go to’ hitter when we needed a kill,” Sadowska said. “She is one of those athletes that when asked to do something different for us was always willing to do it.”

Marshfield finished fourth in the standings this year with a 7-5 record.
