Ashbeck on a roll for Bradley baseball team
PEORIA, Ill. – Elliot Ashbeck, a 2012 graduate of Marshfield High School, is a junior on the Bradley University baseball team.

Ashbeck is the Braves’ No. 1 pitcher and is 7-1 this season with a 2.17 earned run average.

Ashbeck picked up his seventh win on April 3, throwing five innings and allowing just one run and three hits in an 8-2 victory over Robert Morris (Peoria).

Ashbeck has been named the Missouri Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Week twice this season (Feb. 23 and March 30). He is also hitting .268 (15-for-56) with two home runs and 14 RBIs for Bradley, which is 21-7 this season.

Bradley plays a three-game series at Dallas Baptist (Tex.) this Friday through Sunday and will open its MVC schedule with a series at home against Wichita State on April 17-19.

Harrison running track at UW-Oshkosh
OSHKOSH – Auburndale High School graduate Danica Harrison is a junior on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh women’s track and field squad.

Harrison, who also runs for the cross country team at UWO, runs in distance events for the Titans.

Most recently, Harrison ran the 3,000 meters in 11:17.69 at the Titan Challenge on Feb. 21 and finished in a season-best 11:06.94 at the UW-Oshkosh Open.

On Feb. 14 at the UW-Whitewater WIAC Quad, Harrison finished the mile in 5:46.82 and she also had a time of 5:37.68 in the event at the North Central College Cardinal Opener on Jan. 23 in Naperville, Ill.

The Titans’ outdoor season begins April 10-11 at the UW-Platteville Invitational.

Varsho begins baseball career at UW-Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE – Daulton Varsho, who graduated from Marshfield High School in 2014, is a freshman on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team.

Varsho, a catcher and outfielder, has appeared in 17 games, with 10 starts, so far this season for the Panthers. He is batting .222 (10-for-45) with a home run, three RBIs and eight runs scored.

Last weekend, Varsho was 1-for-3 with an RBI single in a 7-3 victory over Valparaiso in the final game of three-game series on April 4. He was a combined 1-for-3 with a run scored in the other two games of the series.

UW-Milwaukee was 14-9 overall and 5-6 in the Horizon League heading into a home game against UW-Superior on Tuesday. That game was followed by a game at Iowa on Wednesday. The Panthers host Illinois-Chicago for a three-game conference series April 10-12 at Henry Aaron Field in Milwaukee.
