Auburndale softball rallies from early deficit to whip Northland Lutheran

KROENENWETTER – Shannon Yahnke had four hits and drove in two runs, and Rachael Bolder struck out six to earn the victory as the Auburndale softball team routed Northland Lutheran 13-4 in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Thursday.

Five Apaches combined for all 14 of the team’s hits in the win. Auburndale is now 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Northland Lutheran falls to 0-5 overall and in the conference.

Yahnke had three singles and a triple; Jenna Ertl had two singles, a triple, and three runs scored; and Hannah Bolder had three hits and two RBIs for Auburndale.

Brooke Anderson added a pair of doubles and Sherri Brandl singled twice for the Apaches.

Rachael Bolder allowed four runs in the first two innings before blanking the Wildcats over the final five. Auburndale rallied with five runs in the third, one in the fourth, five more in the fifth and two in the sixth to ease to the win.

The Apaches play Newman Catholic at Sunnyvalle Park in Wausau on Friday.
