Stratford boys basketball outlasts Owen-Withee

OWEN – Stratford shot an efficient 53 percent from the field and had three players in double figures as it defeated Owen-WIthee 65-58 in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday night at Owen-WIthee High School.

Derrick Schmidt scored 19 points and had a team-high seven rebounds, Ethan Nagel added 16 points, and Cole Hoffman had 15 points for Stratford, which improves to 2-1.

The game was tied at 22-22 at halftime before the Tigers exploded for 43 points in the second 18-minute frame.

Stratford made 22 of 41 field goal attempts, including 16 of 25 (64 percent) from 2-point range.

Josiah Goerlitz poured in 28 points for Owen-Withee (1-1).

Stratford hosts Rib Lake in a nonconference game Monday.
