Pittsville rides three-run first to knock off Auburndale baseball

AUBURNDALE – Pittsville scored three runs in the top of the first inning and held on from there, beating Auburndale 4-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Friday at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches (1-3, 1-2 Marawood South) were held to just four hits. Logan Willfahrt had an RBI to score Cason Schmutzer with Auburndale’s lone run.

Caleb Weinfurter struck out four and allowed 10 hits in a complete-game effort for the Apaches.

Auburndale plays at Marathon on Tuesday.
