Marshfield boys tennis slips past Wausau East

WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys tennis team won three matches in straight sets and went on to beat Wausau East 4-3 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Thursday at East High School.

Sam Haessly (No. 3) and Craig Paulman (No. 4) won singles matches in straight sets for the Tigers, as did the No. 1 doubles team of Evan Fait and Derek Reckner.

Marshfield’s No. 2 doubles team of Jared Draxler and Ayush Shukla needed three sets to win its match.

Marshfield and East are both now 2-1 in Valley dual meets this season.

Marshfield will compete at the Wausau Invitational on Friday and Saturday, before it wraps up their conference dual meet schedule next week with matches at D.C. Everest on Tuesday and at Wisconsin Rapids on May 12. The Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament is May 19 at Wausau East and West high schools.
