Marshfield girls basketball grabs home win over Waunakee

MARSHFIELD – Four Marshfield players scored in double figures as the Tigers won their fourth-straight game with a 66-51 victory over Waunakee in a nonconference girls basketball game Saturday afternoon at Marshfield High School.

Ema Fehrenbach scored 20 points and had eight rebounds, and Maddie Nikolai had a season-high 16 points and added nine rebounds for Marshfield, which is now 6-6 after its early-season struggles.

Meg Bryan hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points, and Jenna Jakobi had 11 points for Marshfield.

The Tigers ran out to a 33-23 lead by halftime and held off Waunakee (12-2) from there. Marshfield held Waunakee to 37 percent shooting (20 of 54) and held a 31-24 rebounding advantage.

Marshfield plays at Stevens Point as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Tuesday. The girls game starts at 6 p.m., with the boys to follow at 7:45 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
