Marshfield boys tennis edges Wausau East

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys tennis team moved to 3-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season with a narrow 4-3 win over Wausau East on Friday at Boson Courts.

The Tigers split four singles matches and won two of the three doubles matches to eke out the victory. East is now 1-1 in the WVC.

Sam Haessly needed three sets to down Gray Clohessy 6-0, 5-7, 6-0, at No. 2 singles and Braedon Corteen won in straight sets at No. 4 singles for Marshfield.

Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Derek Reckner and Jared Cordova, and the No. 2 team of John Fay and Will Fay, each won in straight sets.

Marshfield will play at the Appleton West Invitational on Saturday.
