Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Jared Cordova and Braedon Corteen had been added to the field for the upcoming 2018 WIAA State Individual Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison as extra qualifiers.

Cordova, a sophomore, and Corteen, a senior, are 15-5 after losing a quarterfinal match at the Division 1 sectional on May 23 at Eau Claire to Chippewa Falls’ Lucas Connolly and Mitch Olson, 7-5, 6-2.

Cordova and Corteen won the Wisconsin Valley Conference No. 1 doubles title, helping the Tigers to the team title for the second year in a row.

The Marshfield duo will take on Colin Mast and Trevor Millhouse of Westosha Central (15-6) in a first-round match Thursday, May 31, at approximately 2 p.m.

Second-round, third-round and quarterfinal matches will be held Friday, June 1, with semifinals, consolation matches and championship matches on Saturday, June 2.

Cordova will be making his second-straight appearance at the state meet. He and former partner Derek Reckner, who graduated last year, went 1-1 last year in Madison.
