Chippewa Falls edges Marshfield in WIAA Division 1 baseball regional semifinal

CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield baseball team saw its season come to an end with a tight 6-5 loss to Chippewa Falls in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Tuesday at Casper Park.

Marshfield finishes its season with a 4-16 record.

Chippewa Falls (12-7) moves on to a regional final at Eau Claire Memorial (14-5) on Thursday.

Ryan Krueger, Brant Bohman and Antonio Anaya each had two hits, and Anaya had three RBIs for the Tigers.

Marshfield led 5-3 after five innings before the Cardinals rallied to tie the game in the sixth, and won it in walk-off fashion the bottom of the seventh.

“Great game to be in and a great effort by us,” Marshfield coach Jon Bauer said. “Tough loss. The ending of a season like this is never easy, but I’m proud of the guys for the effort they put in all season.”
