Marshfield boys basketball tops Eau Claire Memorial to win Waunakee Tournament title

WAUNAKEE – Isaac Meverden scored 21 points and hauled down eight rebounds to lead the Marshfield boys basketball team to a 59-54 win over Eau Claire Memorial in the championship game of the Waunakee Holiday Tournament on Friday at Waunakee High School.

Meverden, a junior forward, made 6 of 10 shots from the field and 8 of 11 free throws to lead the way for the Tigers, who are now 5-4 this season.

Tommy Olson and Preston Wagner each added 11 points for Marshfield.

The Tigers trailed 27-25 at halftime and were down by as much as nine in the second half before rallying for the victory.

Marshfield returns to action Jan. 4 at Wausau East.
