Marshfield Junior Legion whips Wisconsin Rapids for second win at 17U Regional

NEKOOSA – The Marshfield Junior American Legion baseball team pounded out 20 hits, scored in six of its seven at-bats, and rolled to a 15-3 win over Wisconsin Rapids in a winner’s bracket game at the 17U Junior Legion regional on Saturday night.

Marshfield moves into a game at 4 p.m. Sunday, and with a win, would advance to the championship game on Monday night.

Riley Bauman had three hits and scored three runs, and Nick Urban, Max Heller, Chase higgins, Adam Zee, Will Fetting, and Ky Swanson each had two hits for Marshfield (20-5). Swanson and Logan Homolka each drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Twelve different Blue Devils had hits and nine players drove in at least one run in the rout.

Homolka earned the win on the mound, striking out 10 in six innings and allowing nothing after a three-run first inning by Wisconsin Rapids.
