MARSHFIELD – Riley Boushack had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs, and Isaiah Baierl drove in three runs to help lift the Marshfield Post 54 Senior American Legion baseball team to a 9-8 win over Eau Claire in its regular-season finale on Wednesday at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield (14-19) will move on to the Class AAA regional at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point and begins play with a game against D.C. Everest at noon on Friday. The double-elimination regional, with a berth to the Class AAA State Legion Baseball Tournament next week in Chippewa Falls on the line, will run through Tuesday.
Marshfield led 6-0 after four innings and 9-3 after five, then hung on after Eau Claire scored five times in the top of the sixth.
Jaeger Johnson needed just nine pitches to get the final four outs to earn the save for Marshfield.
Logan Schriener earned the win, throwing three shutout innings of relief after Cole Hediger pitched a scoreless first inning.
Devyn Palmer added a single, a double and two RBIs, and Eli Drexler also had two hits and knocked in a run for the Blue Devils.
