Marshfield finishes second, sets new school record in 200 medley relay, at home Chase the Tiger Invitational

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls swim team finished second at its home Chase the Tiger Invitational on Wednesday, and set a new school record.

The Tigers 200-yard medley relay team of Kaitlin Alberts, Faith Risa, Courtney Donahue and Skylar Onsager finished in a time of 1:56.78 to break the former school record set in 2006. Marshfield finished second in the race, just 0.15 of a second behind first-place Rhinelander.

Marshfield won one event. Alberts, Faith Risa, Donahue and Hope Risa won the 100 medley relay in 57.86 seconds.

Rhinelander won four events and took first in the team standings with 224½ points, Marshfield was second with 208 and Merrill took third with 167 at the seven-team meet.

Marshfield also had three other second-place finishes. The 100 freestyle relay team of Tara Kracht, Mataya Steinbach, Abbey Boushack and Alyssa Franks took second in 55.45 seconds, and Faith Risa was second in the 100 individual medley in 1:04.39 and the 50 breaststroke in 33.03 seconds.

Marshfield is off until it competes in its first dual meet at La Crosse Logan/Central at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Sept. 10.
