SPENCER – The Stratford boys and Auburndale girls ran to titles at the Auburndale Cross Country Invitational, which was held at Frey Field in Spencer on Tuesday.
James Heeg won the boys race in 17:49.1 for Stratford, which had other top-10 finishes from Andrew Chapel (fourth, 17:56.5) and Isaac Thompson (ninth, 18:59.7).
Athens finished second, Auburndale third, and Spencer eighth in the boys team standings. Marshfield Columbus Catholic did not have a complete team.
Carl Lundgren was third for Auburndale in 17:54.8, five seconds behind Heeg.
Andrew Scheer finished 17th in 19:18.6 for Columbus Catholic, and Cameron Nieman led Spencer, taking 44th in 21:27.7.
Auburndale had six of the top nine finishers in the girls race, including the top three. McKenna Zieher won in 21:15.7, with Jordyn Karl second in 21:30.5 and Erricka Zenner third in 21:35.9.
Vanessa Mitchell took sixth (22:23.9), Autumn Richardson was seventh (22:27.6) and Lily Kloos finished ninth (22:43.0) as well for Auburndale.
Prentice was second, Stratford fifth, Spencer sixth and Marshfield Columbus Catholic eighth in the girls team standings.
Ella Heidmann was 11th in 22:47.8 for Stratford’s top finish.
Emily Wehrman topped Spencer, taking 17th in 23:49.4, and Holly Dean was 39th for Columbus Catholic in 26:09.7.
