Waunakee slips past Marshfield boys basketball in overtime

WAUNAKEE – A day after prevailing in overtime, the Marshfield boys basketball team dropped one in extra time, losing to host Waunakee 53-52 in overtime in the championship game of the Waunakee Holiday Tournament on Saturday night at Waunakee High School.

Marshfield led 27-22 at halftime but the Warriors stormed back to force overtime and eventually pull out the victory.

Joey Goettl had 13 points, and Addison Hill and Anthony Posteluk each had 12 points for the Tigers, who fall to 4-4 this season.

Jacob May had 15 points to lead Waunakee (8-1).

Marshfield is back in action Jan. 3 at D.C. Everest as it tries to push its Wisconsin Valley Conference record to 3-0.
