Marshfield boys basketball uses free throw advantage to hold off Wausau West

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield made only 11 field goals but were a crisp 20-for-25 at the free throw line and pulled past Wausau West 49-41 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys basketball game Monday night at Marshfield High School.

Joey Goettl made three 3-pointers and scored a team0high 12 points for the Tigers, who improve to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the WVC.

Anthony Posteluk made all eight of his free throw attempts and added 11 points, Sam Hinson was 5-for-6 at the line and scored 10, and Addison Hill was 5-for-7 at the line for Marshfield.

Marshfield shot just 11 of 31 from the field, but took advantage of a big 20-8 advantage at the free throw line to pull out the win.

Peter Fuchs had 19 points to lead West (2-8, 0-4 WVC).
