SCHOFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship with a hard-fought 3-2 win over D.C. Everest on Tuesday night at D.C. Everest High School.

Marshfield won 22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 24-26, 15-9, to improve to 9-2 in the WVC this season. Everest ends its conference schedule at 9-3.

Marshfield’s Wisconsin Valley Conference title is the program’s first since 2006, when the Tigers tied with D.C. Everest for the championship. That culminated a streak of sixth-straight conference titles for the Tigers.

“I am so proud of these girls for staying healthy and doing whatever it took to stay in the gym playing a game they love,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “They believed in one another and came to practice every day ready to get better.”

Casey Frankland had 20 kills, Brooklyn Boushack had 15 kills and 23 digs, and Taylor Barwick had 17 assists and 24 digs for Marshfield.

Brianna Jakobi had a team-high 29 assists, Alani Carter had four blocks, and Elise Uphoff added 22 digs for the Tigers.

Marshfield has a match against Hortonville pending. Hortonville is still alive in the WIAA playoffs, and should it not qualify for the state tournament, the match will be played some time next week.
