The Auburndale girls basketball team will head into the WIAA playoffs on a roll after blasting Prentice 76-30 on Friday and Wausau Newman Catholic 75-35 on Saturday to finish off its regular season schedule.
The Eagles finish the regular season 15-4 overall and 10-3 in the Marawood Conference South Division.
On Friday at Prentice, Auburndale raced out to a 45-8 lead by halftime and cruised to the win.
Annamarie Aue had a team-high 19 points, Georgi Schmutzer had three 3-pointers and 17 points, and Kaitlyn Kundinger added 16 points in the victory for the Eagles.
Auburndale was on fire from 3-point range in the win over Newman on Saturday afternoon.
Schmutzer drilled six of the Eagles’ 10 3-pointers in the 40-point win and had a game-high 23 points. Aue added 17 points and Kundinger 10 for Auburndale.
Auburndale has won five games in a row and nine of its last 10 heading into the playoffs. The Eagles will host a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal on Feb. 12 against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Stevens Point Pacelli and Wild Rose.
